G.R.O.W. Day Program

This Spring and Summer G.R.O.W. will offer a number of learning opportunities including golf, cooking, gardening, and sports education. Participants will have a choice of what they want to participant in. There will be exciting opportunities including, development of skills, special guests, and memorable fun activities. Looking forward to a great Spring/Summer program this year! 

G.R.O.W. will be participating in the Manitoba Marathon on Sunday June 16th. Staff and participants will be participating in the Super Run (5K) and the 10K (walk or run). Come cheer on the participants and staff- we have been training!

Occupational Therapy Students

From May 6th to June 28th, we will be welcoming two new students, Janelle Fontaine and Derek Freier, completing their Intermediate 1 placement from the Occupational Therapy Faculty of Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Manitoba.

Goals for G.R.O.W. Hockey Tournament

The successful Goals for G.R.O.W. Tournament was held on April 6th at the MTS Iceplex.

A huge thank you goes out to all who donated to our campaign and to all of our peer-to-peer fundraisers and sponsors, we could not have done this without you! Your gift is helping individuals with disabilities work toward a richer and more independent life.

A spotlight and a special thank you goes out to Rachel Nickel who received a standing ovation after an amazing speech describing her G.R.O.W. experience.

Parian Logistics, a Canadian warehousing and distribution provider, created a partnership with G.R.O.W. to start participant employment opportunities in the next few months.

G.R.O.W.L Dog Treats

Prepared at Baked Expectations, our amazing dog treats are available for sale! We offer pumpkin peanut butter, apple cheddar and gluten free pumpkin peanut butter treats. G.R.O.W.L Dog treats are available at G.R.O.W. as well as the following retail locations: Humane Society, Baked Expectations, Village Pet and Hip Pooch. G.R.O.W.L is an opportunity to have meaningful paid employment for our participants. WITH ART Community Public Art Program

On June 19th G.R.O.W. along with Lindsey White and the Arts Council, will be hosting a performance in the Berny Theatre at the Rady Jewish Community Centre. This project has been two years in the making and the participants are ready to showcase their work by performing four songs they created. Doors open at 6 pm with the show starting at 7 pm; seating is on a first come first served basis. We look forward to seeing you at our event!

G.R.O.W. Community Outing

G.R.O.W. participants had the opportunity to plan and organize community outings over the winter months which included; an afternoon participating in board games at Across the Board, watching live productions put on by the students at Grant Park, having a musical therapist come to the program for an afternoon of music and attending the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra for the presentation of the Planets.

G.R.O.W. Outreach Program Update

We have an exciting line-up of events this spring including a tour of the Humane Society, a Goldeyes game and a BBQ with carnival games and a slushy machine.

Supported Independent Living Update

G.R.O.W. in Gimli Program

Summer 2019

This year marks 17 years of the G.R.O.W. in Gimli Summer Program. Applications for this year have been reviewed and all spots are full. We will be having 12 participants working on life skills and personal goals over three 2-week sessions. The G.R.O.W. in Gimli Program takes place on the following dates:

  • June 30th -13th
  • July 21st – Aug 3rd  
  • Aug 11th – 24th  

Two Occupational Therapy Students from the University of Manitoba Faculty of Rehabilitation Sciences will be completing their advanced placement in Gimli. This year’s summer facilitators are Natalie Jonhson, Jennifer Caryk and Alexandra Rea.
