Ken Zaifman

Director, (LLB)

Ken graduated from The U of Manitoba law school (1975), joining Kopstein Kimmelman & Co. in 1976 after his call to the Bar. His practice consisted mainly of criminal law defence work until 1979 when he took on his first immigration case. That experience provided the foundation for starting his own firm, Zaifman Associates which numbers 13 staff practicing exclusively in the area of immigration law.
In his volunteer life, Ken became involved in various executive capacities with the Canadian Bar Association, American Immigration Lawyer’s Association, Manitoba Bar, International Bar Association and, the Inter-Pacific Bar Association.
Ken married Mira Thow in 1988, who is also a lawyer and works with Ken (he describes her as the brains of the operation). They have two daughters, Lea (20 years) and Anna (18 years). Between work, travel, and family, he describes life as hectic but, so far, so good.
