Day Program

STAFF UPDATES

In January, the Day Program welcomed a newprogram facilitator to the team.

Meghan has a bachelors degree in Psychology from the University of Manitoba. When not at G.R.O.W., you can find Meghan coaching ringnette, running, or spending time with her dog.

PRACTICUM STUDENTS

Over the winter, G.R.O.W. was lucky to have hosted two practicum students.

Kayla is an occcupational therapy student who spent 8 weeks with the Day Program, while completing a practicum placement.

Carol is a student with the RRC Disability Support Professional Program. Carol returned to G.R.O.W. for a second time, to complete another practicum placement with the Day Program.

G.R.O.W would like to thank Kayla and Carol for all their help and wish them the best of luck in their studies.

MISCELLANEOUS

Congratulations to all the G.R.O.W. participants who participated in another year of winter Special Olympics!

LEMONADE STANDFOR HOPE

G.R.O.W. will be participating in the Lemonade Stand for Hope, in support of cancer care, again this year.

COLD & FLU REMINDER

A reminder that if you are experiencing 2 or more cold or flu symptoms you will be asked to stay home from G.R.O.W. Individuals who are only experiencing 1 symptom will be required to wear a mask while at the program.

VOCATION

Congratulations to Ami, who was recently promoted to the position of Vocational Facilitator!

Ami was previously working as a program facilitator at 93 Willow. In this previous role, Ami had the oppourtunity to build great relationships with all of the Day Program participants.

Ami will be working with participants to find vocational placements and providing necessary supports for participants to succeed. We wish Ami all the best in her new role.

G.R.O.W. in Gimli

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The G.R.O.W. in Gimli Program is designed for young adults (18-24) with social, developmental, and/or intellectual disabilities looking to enhance their independent community living skills. Now in our 22nd year of operation, the program encouragesgrowth of the person in a supportive environment.

Participants live cooperatively for a two-week period in Gimli, Manitoba, where they work towards individualized goals related to independent living.

We are happy to announce that the G.R.O.W. in Gimli Program is the recipient of the 2024 Jewish Foundation Community Impact Grant.

This grant will enable the G.R.O.W. in Gimli program facility to receive some needed updates.

We are thankful for the support of the Jewish Foundation in aiding our program to continued success!

G.R.O.W. in Gimli is gearing up for another summer of programming.

We have a few spots remaining in the program. If you know someone who is interested in joining us for a two week overnight program session, contact Arielle (akeith@growourway.ca) ASAP!

Gain at G.R.O.W.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

A weekly program held on Saturday’s that utilizes peer-teaching and a learn-by-doing approach to enhance or expand participants’ life skills, social skills needed for successful participation in independent or semi-independent living

PROGRAM UPDATE

GAIN at G.R.O.W. has completed another successful session over the winter months!

The program was happy to welcome 5 participants who attended the Gain at G.R.O.W. program for 12 weeks from February - May 2024.

Thank you to the program staff Daniel, Alley and Tamara for their hard work.

Join Our Team

G.R.O.W in Gimli Program Facilitator

Multiple Positions Available

The G.R.O.W. in Gimli Program is seeking experienced and enthusiastic program staff to support G.R.O.W. participants in achieving their self-determined life skills goals.

In addition to having strong organizational and communication skills, the candidate will also possess:

  • Experience with individuals with disabilities
  • Able to teach program learning modules in the areas of social skills and life skills development
  • Adhere to the principles of person-centred practice
  • Able to work in and contribute to a team environment
  • Standard First AID level CPR
  • Criminal Record and Child Abuse Vulnerable Persons Check.

Successful candidate will spend three 2-week overnight sessions including one week off in between each session
